Abstract
The International Labour Organization, with representation of governments, employers and workers, is the focal point for labour statistics in the United Nations system. It is contributing to the development of tourism satellite accounts, promoting statistics on employment and working conditions. Various International Labour Standards, including the recently adopted ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, are particularly relevant to the hotel, catering and tourism sector, which is at the forefront of modern human resources development. More labour statistics will help to make better use of modernization to the benefit of all.
