Abstract
This paper provides an introduction to common-sense analysis in tourism. It outlines the background and nature of common-sense analysis, also referred to as vague modelling, fuzzy logic, qualitative modelling and rough modelling. It sets out some of the ways in which common-sense analysis can be developed, and, taking budget hotels as an example, it examines how this analysis can be applied in theory and considers some possible applications. The example of budget hotels is provided for illustration; it is not based on empirical work.
