In 1992, Antioch University Seattle opened a graduate management program for mid-career managers. Designed as an alternative to the MBA, the program is structured as a learning community in which members (students, faculty and Board) learn together and apply their learning both within the program community and at work. Key elements include the organizing framework of /person, organization and world' and the concept of reflective practice. After its first six months, the program appears to have a large and very personal impact on students. Remaining challenges include accommodating widely diverse student needs and competencies within a cohesive community.
