Abstract
Rugiatu Neneh Turay, a feminist from Sierra Leone, recounts how personal experiences of female genital mutilation (FGM) have shaped grassroots organising. Rugiatu’s work has been acclaimed internationally. She is the recipient of three international human rights awards, including The Alice Salomon Award (2010), The Theodor Haecker Prize (2020) and the International Hrant Dink Award (2024).
