Abstract

This issue is dedicated to Gary McPherson, who established Research Studies in Music Education in 1993 and served as its inaugural editor until the 23rd issue in November 2004. Gary then continued to serve as an associate editor until the end of 2023, providing invaluable advice and expertly guiding the scholarship of music education through this journal for a remarkable 30 years. In the years since its inception, this journal has grown from one focusing on original work from the Asia-Pacific region to a truly international journal that has maintained its dedication to high-quality and unique research in music education. The continued influence of this journal, which originated in Australia, is due in no small part to the vision and dedication shown by its first editor.
Gary has decided to step down from his role on the editorial board of Research Studies in Music Education. While we will miss his contributions behind the scenes, we are certain that nothing will stop his contributions to the field as a researcher, musician, author, and teacher. Thank you, Gary, for your significant influence on the face of music education internationally and your enormous contribution to this journal in particular.
