Abstract
More permanent visualization of sites of phosphatase activities is achieved by treating sections with haematein following incubation in media containing metal capture reagents. The metallic phosphates act as mordants for the haematein, and haematin mordanted by lead or cobalt has a rich purple color at alkaline pH. The purple color is fast in contrast to the brown lead or cobalt sulfides which tend to fade with time.
