Abstract
This report describes results obtained by staining several histochemical model systems and tissue sections by a number of Schiff-type reactions. From the results it may be concluded that the generally accepted hypothesis put forward by Wieland and Scheuing (14) about the reaction between aldehydes and Schiff's reagent must be rejected Agreement with the alkylsulfonic acid theory introduced by Rumpf (12) and Hörmann et al. (7) was found.
