Abstract
Pacificans are a dominant feature of New Zealand's shame statistics. The Massey University Pasifika@Massey Strategy is for better academic achievement of Pacificans. The existing disparities in New Zealand stimulated Massey University to develop the Pasifika@Massey Strategy. The Strategy assists in realising Pacific aspirations for greater participation in university education and the New Zealand economy. It has been formulated to address how Massey University might contribute to Pacific development and at the same time fulfill the University's Charter obligations and meet the expectations of the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). The presence of the Pasifika@Massey Strategy as an explicit written declaration of intent and the incorporation of cultural democracy is the catalyst for taking Pacificans from the margins towards equitable participation in the socio-economic transformation of New Zealand.
