Abstract
The implants used in a series of 230 consecutive hip replacement revisions have been analysed and divided into those in which the implant was already available in the hospital (Group A), those in which an implant had to be specially brought in, but which was, nevertheless, in production (Group B), and a third group in which an implant had to be specially made (Group C). Ninety-four per cent of the series were in Group A, 3% in Group B, and 3% in Group C. The types of case requiring a Group C or true “custom” implant are discussed.
