Abstract
The effect of basic fuchsins of different origin on the final pattern of extinction of the Feulgen reaction was determined cytophotometrically. The following products were compared: basic fuchsin by Light, by National Aniline (C.I. No. 42510 (formerly 677)), Lachema, Harleco, (Cert. no. LF 23, 99% dye content), and acridine-free pararosaniline, of Bayer.
The low dye content of basic fuchsin and the admixture of other coloured components results in a decrease of the extinction values obtained cytophotometrically and in a decrease in interpretability of nuclear histograms.
