Abstract
This article deals with the linear behavior of sandwich structures by using homogenization method for periodic media. An orthotropic layered plate model substituting the three-dimensional (3D) structure is proposed. The use of the equivalent model for an industrial example allows the authors to validate the proposed model and shows also its utility for lightweight constructions. In addition, the authors present in this study a method of localization of 3D stress and displacement fields using calculations resulting from the orthotropic layered plate model. An extension to the curved sandwich structures is also carried out by considering a layered shell as an equivalent model.
