An error appeared in the equation used to calculate fluid deficit that was presented in the ‘Addressing dehydration’ box on page 184 of the above article. (The error appears in the printed copies of the journal, and in online versions downloaded before June 2013.) The units for ‘fluid deficit’ in the equation should be ‘ml’ (millilitres) and not ‘l’ (litres). The amended box is reproduced here in full.
