An apparatus and procedures are described for eval uating the rate of formaldehyde release from urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde foams. The method consists of two steps: 1. Collection of formaldehyde from a box containing a block of foam - the main subject of this paper, and -2. Deter mination of the collected foamaldehyde. The collection step is extremely simple and straightforward. The method provides the amount of formaldehyde that is released from a given quantity of foam in a given time, and under given conditions of test.
