Abstract
From six different hospitality and tourism programs, 349 students responded
to a survey asking them to identify what they consider to be the most important ethical
issues confronting the hospitality and tourism industry today. Generally, they
perceived solid waste disposal, conditions of employment, a variety of employment
discrimination issues, employee theft, false advertising, vendor honesty, sanitation
violations, and AIDS in foodservice to be today's most compelling issues in this
industry. The data collected did not permit many conclusions to be drawn in regard
to possible associations between the issues identified and various demographic
variables.
