A survey of 65 foodservice firms questioned CEO's on their firm's strategy, environmental scanning, and performance. Results indicate that firms espousing low cost or differentiation perform significantly higher than focus firms; higher performing firms engage in significantly higher levels of environmental scanning; and the effects of strategy and scanning are additive.
