Abstract
With the increasing call foraccountability in higher education, Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional educators need to take serious action to improve the teaching skills of graduate assistants, thus enhancing the educational experience of the student. The new graduate teaching assistant not only has very little teaching experience and thus needs the assistance but is also, in most cases, the first person a freshman will encounter in the classroom. It is important that the higher education community adopt the "frontloading" philosophy, and place more emphasis on the quality of teaching the freshman experiences. This paper will deal with how to train the new graduate teaching assistants.
