Abstract

Greetings!
I hope that everyone is enjoying a bit of a break this summer and that you find this issue of International Journal of Toxicology particularly interesting!
Featured this issue are a collection of symposium overview articles, which nicely summarize symposia presented at the 2014 and 2015 American College of Toxicology (ACT) Annual Meetings. If you like these and want more, we have a couple more symposium overview articles that will be published in our next issue. As in the past, I strongly urge chairs of ACT Annual Meeting Symposia and Continuing Education courses to write up summaries of their sessions for submission to International Journal of Toxicology. For each article, color figure fees are waived, and the review process is quick and constructive; these articles tend to be little work for me and very valuable to ACT members and other readers who could not attend a particular annual meeting session in person at the ACT Annual Meeting.
Also featured in this issue are articles on various aspects of nanotoxicology, ranging from some basic characterization of the toxicity of nanomaterials to development of nanomaterial-based therapeutics. As the trend toward the use of nanosized materials in consumer products, cosmetics, and therapeutics continues to grow, I’m pleased to publish well-conducted studies in this area.
In terms of our editorial board, I extend my sincere gratitude to Dr Dale Baker, as he steps away from the editorial board after nearly 8 years of (exhausting) service. I’d also like to welcome Dr Richard Lane aboard. And finally, my thanks go out to all of our associate editors, editorial board members, and ad hoc reviewers. Our journal greatly benefits from your time, wisdom, and expertise!
It is time to start looking ahead to the 2016 ACT Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, November 6 to 9, 2016. Registration is open on the ACT website (www.act.org). In addition to 2 plenary lectures, 18 symposia, and 8 continuing education courses, ACT will host 2 poster sessions at the annual meeting. Designated authors will present their poster during either poster session I with wine and cheese on Monday, November 7, or poster session II with champagne breakfast on Tuesday, November 8. I thoroughly enjoy viewing the posters, and in certain instances, I may try to convince you that your data would make a nice paper for publication in International Journal of Toxicology. During the awards luncheon, the paper selected for the President’s Award for the best paper published in International Journal of Toxicology will be announced, along with ACT’s other prestigious awards.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the ACT Annual Meeting in Baltimore. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have ideas to strengthen our College’s official publication.
