Dr Fitzgerald attended the University of Massachusetts, received her PhD in Pharmacology from Yale University in 1968, and went on to work as a Senior Staff Fellow at the Laboratory of Cerebral Metabolism at NIMH under Dr Louis Sokoloff. She was well known for her collegial nature and greatly respected for her incisive intellect and sensible approach to drug regulation. Glenna was also a world traveler, an antique collector, and an avid fan of Dixieland jazz. She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Bob. She will be greatly missed.
