AMSBIO has announced a service for generating mass spectrometry standards for more than 5000 human proteins. Produced in human HEK293T cells and labeled with [U-13C6,15N4]-L-arginine and [U-13C6,15N2]-L-lysine, full-length proteins with posttranslational modifications are used for identification and quantification of protein biomarkers. Analytical methodologies include matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) and electrospray ionization (ESI). For further information, visit info@amsbio.com.
BioFocus has launched 4 biologically targeted libraries. The libraries contain compounds that are designed to specifically target kinase and protein-protein interactions. Three SoftFocus® kinase libraries (SFK61, SFK62, and SFK63) target the hinge region, allosteric sites, or novel binding modes. The Helix Mimetic library (HM02) is designed to interact with protein helices and inhibit protein-protein interactions but can also target other helical recognition motifs such as the pore region of ion channels. BioFocus also announced an agreement with DiscoveRx Corporation. That allows BioFocus to perform screening using the DiscoveRx PathHunter™ β-Arrestin G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) screening assay, HitHunter™ cAMP assays, and associated cell lines. For further information, visit www.biofocus.com.
Capsugel has announced a service for encapsulating compounds to be used in early-stage clinical trials. The service includes cGMP compliance in the production of lipid-based formulations and powder fill-based formulations using the Xcelodose® Precision Powder Micro-dosing System. For further information, visit www.capsugel.com.
CCS Cell Culture Service announced a large-scale transfection service using the MaxCyte® STX™ Scalable Transfection System. Batches of up to 10 billion cells can be transfected on cell lines, primary cells, or stem cells. The service produces bulk quantities of assay-ready frozen cells transiently expressing targets of interest. For further information, visit www.cellcultureservice.com.
Evotec AG has made an agreement with Hypha Discovery Ltd., allowing Evotec to access Hypha’s MycoDiverse™ natural product collection as part of its hit and lead identification services. For additional information, visit www.evotec.com.
Thermo Fisher Scientific released an addition to its Maybridge Fragment Range, the Maybridge R03 Diversity Fragment Library. The library builds on features of the original Maybridge R03 (Rule of 3) Library where each fragment is soluble in both DMSO (200 mM) and aqueous phosphate buffer (1 mM). Maybridge applied Daylight-based structural fingerprinting techniques (1024 bit length) to a R03-compliant set of 8000 fragments, and the fingerprinted set was then clustered using industry standard software (DBClus). The resulting set of 1500 molecules consists of 819 cluster centroids and 690 singletons at a Tanimoto level of 0.66. For further information, visit www.maybridge.com.
TTP LabTech has launched a high-content screening contract screening service based around the Acumen® microplate cytometer. The service provides high-content data for cell-based assays, including cell cycle, RNAi profiling, angiogenesis, and signal pathway profiling. The service is currently available in 2 forms—standard and full. Standard service includes scanning and analysis of preprepared experimental plates, whereas full service incorporates assay development where required, cell culture, compound/reagent treatment, screening, analysis, and data reporting. For more information, visit www.ttplabtech.com/screening.

When referencing microplate standards –
Because SLAS is not a standardizing association, but an association that provides Special Interest Groups the ability and platform to standardize along with ANSI (the American National Standards Institute), in the event that the ANSI/SBS Microplate Standards are to be used in advertisements, product releases, or abstracts, the standards must be referred by:
ANSI/SBS 1-2004: Microplates - Footprint Dimensions
ANSI/SBS 2-2004: Microplates - Height Dimensions
ANSI/SBS 3-2004: Microplates - Bottom Outside Flange Dimensions
ANSI/SBS 4-2004: Microplates - Well Positions
(Either singularly, or as a whole)
If in dire circumstances spacing is a major issue, the only other verbiage that will be allowed is: Meets the Standards ANSI/SBS 1-2004 through ANSI/SBS 4-2004.
