Agilent Automation Solutions has announced a 384-well format rack for nested
disposable tip use on either the Bravo Liquid Handling Platform or the Vertical Pipetting
Station (formerly VPrep). The rack offers top- or bottom- loading stack compatibility, and
tips are certified to be DNAse/RNAse free. Sterile or nonsterile versions are available.

Biostatus Ltd. announces the fluorescent dye DRAQ5 for measuring DNA content
in live or fixed cells. Stained cells can be gated and sorted into isolated populations
with different DNA content according to cell cycle, such as elevated G2/M or aneuploidy.
The DNA from cell fractions can then be used for population-restricted PCR amplification.
Because DRAQ5 is a far-red–emitting fluorophore, it can be multiplexed with other
parameters such as cell surface phenotype. For further information, visit www.biostatus.com.
GE Healthcare announces the launch of the Biotin CAPture Kit for isolation of
a biomolecule by a sensor chip surface and subsequent analysis in a Biacore system. The kit
has a standardized protocol for regeneration and the ability to change ligands between
experiments without changing the sensor chip. It also allows for the reversible capture of
biotinylated molecules and generic regeneration. The Sensor Chip CAP is built on a
carboxymethylated dextran matrix to which an ss-DNA molecule is pre-immobilized. The
reagent consists of streptavidin conjugated with the complementary ss-DNA molecule. The
Biacore X100 2.0 includes a preprogrammed workflow to support the kit. For further
information, visit ge-proteins@collegehill.com.
Matrical Bioscience has introduced universal weighted microplate lids. The
black lids are light tight and targeted for in-process assays or short- to medium-term
storage for chemical libraries. The lids come with gaskets placed at the edge of the wells
for reducing evaporation. For further information, visit www.matrical.com.
Micronic has announced a range of black tubes and capping products designed
for storage of light-sensitive samples. Produced with carbon-filled polypropylene, the
tubes are validated as being RNase, DNase, and leachate free; are available in a range of
working volumes (0.5, 0.75, 1.1, 1.4, and 7.5 mL); and have 2D-coded or noncoded formats.
Black TPE plug-style tube caps and screw-caps are also available. For further information,
visit www.micronic.com.
Novozymes Biopharma announces animal-free CellPrime rTransferrin AF and
CellPrime rAlbumin AF-G products made of recombinant human albumin. The same manufacturer
also announces LONG®R3 IGF-I, an analog of human insulin-like growth factor I
(IGF-I), engineered as an animal-free alternative to recombinant insulin. For further
information, visit www.biopharma.novozymes.com.
Porvair Sciences Ltd. has announced a new range of PCR plates. The plates are
manufactured from solvent-resistant polymers and are certified free of pyrogens and
DNAse/RNAse activity. A selection of standard or low-profile 96-well PCR plates is
available in various formats (full, half, or no skirt), with working volumes between 30 and
200 µL. Black alphanumeric printing on the plates is provided for well identification. For
further information, visit www.porvair-sciences.com.
PreAnalytiX, GmbH, a QIAGEN/BD company, has launched the PAXgene Blood miRNA
Kit for the extraction and purification of miRNA from human whole blood. The kit has been
designed to complement the PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes kit, which is used for collecting and
stabilizing whole human blood. Both protocols are available in manual and automated
formats. For further information, visit www.preanalytix.com.
QIAGEN has announced the QIAamp Circulating Nucleic Acid Kit for the
extraction of free circulating fragments of tumor-, viral-, and fetal-derived nucleic acids
in human blood. The kit can be used for noninvasive diagnoses of diseases. For further
information, visit www.qiagen.com.
