Abstract

This invitational update on the Institute for the Advancement of Social Work Research (IASWR) provides an overview of the work and progress toward strengthening the evidence base for social work practice and policy through research. The article includes information regarding IASWR work with its supporting social work organizations to provide a social work presence at national policy tables and highlights gains grown from educative and advocacy efforts. IASWR also provides resources through its weekly e-alert and resource service and its Web site, which includes social work research-related reports, agendas, venues for research training, and technical assistance slide presentations. The IASWR board provides a forum for social work member organizational leadership to engage in profession-bridging strategies and practice and policy-strengthening initiatives.
