The systematic analysis of international environmental policy is based on certain methodological and theoretical approaches. In this paper, five of these approaches are considered: the levels, foreign policy, mediation, international regime and structural system approaches. These approaches are seen as com plementary and interlocking elements of an analytical network for conducting methodologically advanced comparative research.
