Abstract
Facilitating the task of dying continues to be an ongoing problem for long-term care facilities. This problem is compounded by high staff turnover, inadequate grief training of staff, and a lack of emotional support for staff. As baby boomers continue to age, long-term care will be faced with the task of providing care to greater numbers of people. Developing a partnership with hospice is one way to assist long-term care in providing their front line staff with the appropriate training and skill development to face this task. This training will bring an enhanced quality of life to patients in their final days.
