One of the major components of hospice is a reliable, well managed volunteer program. This article provides information to assist professional staff as well as administrators toward retention, recruitment, and training. The author also offers effective, practical suggestions on utilization and how to provide an environment for the volunteer to be able to function with the goal of enhancing the quality of life.
