Japanese society is presently facing a revolutionary system change. The health care system and educational system of various health care professionals are also in the process of fundamental restructuring. In these social surroundings, Japanese nurses are now taking advantage of system restructuring to raise the social status of nurses and to expand nurses' role in Japanese society.
