Abstract
The scrutiny continues on pharmaceutical manufacturers and their relationships with health care providers. As a result of this intense scrutiny, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) developed and released its code, which follows the American Medical Association format (see http://www.phrma.org/publications/quickfacts/04/19/2002.). When reviewing the PhRMA code, it is clear to see that it is more restrictive and although not a legal document, it is anticipated that the government will eventually consider this the standard to be met. The contents of this code should be available for the corporate compliance officer's reference and use within the organization. This column provides a summation of this resource document.
