Abstract
An examination of environmental variables is important in efforts to enhance the play behaviors of young children with disabilities. This paper addressed six environmental variables that can influence the play behaviors of young children including: the theoretical orientation of the program, the amount of space available, the classroom arrangement, the length of the play period, the effects of social vs. isolate toys, and the effects of different quantity of toys.
