Abstract
Recent outcome data are reviewed and an attempt is made to compare treatment programs having either no relapse prevention (RP) features, only the internal management component of RP, or both internal management and the external supervisory components of RP. Presently available data are limited. Although treatment seems to produce effects, these benefits do not appear to be enhanced by the addition of elaborate internal management or by the provision of extensive RP aftercare procedures.
