Abstract
This paper highlights the problem of violence among youth in our society, and describes a program for dealing with violent situations and violent youth in detention centers. The authors present three components of a violence prevention and intervention program: establishing a safe milieu, screening for victimization and perpetration of violence, and conflict resolution building activities. It is argued that given the high and rising rate of youth violence in this society, violence prevention programs should be institutionalized in the nation’s youth correctional facilities.
