Abstract
This article describes one facility’s experience with palliative and end-of-life care over the past two decades. After a description of the evolution of this program and the corrections-specific challenges to the provision of palliative and hospice care and related services, the remainder of the article focuses on pain and symptom management. It is hoped that the lessons learned at this facility will be useful to others as they strive to improve the quality of palliative and end-of life treatment for prisoners entrusted to their care.
