Abstract
This study examines the association between married couples’ domestic violence awareness (DVA) and emotional intelligence (EI) within a dyadic framework. Grounded in a gender-oriented and relational perspective, the study conceptualizes EI as both an individual capacity and an interpersonal resource. Using the Actor–Partner Interdependence Model, results show that higher EI is associated with greater DVA for both women and men (actor effects). Additionally, women's EI positively predicts their partners’ DVA (partner effect), whereas no reciprocal effect was observed. Findings highlight the importance of considering dyadic processes in understanding violence awareness within marital relationships.
