Abstract
This article is a playfully assembled amalgamation of reflections on field notes the author gathered in the early fall of 1992 while locating striptease dancers willing to be interviewed for her dissertation research. Coupling systematic sociological introspection and a layered account format, the author "teases out" her relationship with an informant, as well as her roles as a researcher and a striptease dancer, using various non-concepts from Jacques Derrida. With these resources, the author explores the experience of having ambiguous role identities, while she "plays" with the liminal qualities ofher format, the layered account. The layered account serves as her mystic writing pad as she sketches, erases, and sketches again, her impressions of her informant and their experiences together.
