Abstract
This family farm in Wisconsin was started in 1868 by my great-grandparents and farmed by the generations that followed. My brother and I inherited the farm and tried to keep its 160 acres as a working farm, even as we lived in other places and pursued other careers. What is a family farm, we finally asked, if there is no family on the land to farm it? My way of letting go of this childhood home and family farm is to tell the tale as a witness to the ending of another family farm.
