Abstract
This study of journalists' perceptions of local news coverage by independent and group-owned newspapers shows that journalists hold generally positive opinions about their publications' local news coverage. Journalists at independent papers more often rated their papers' commitment to quality local coverage as excellent and were more likely to strongly agree that their newspapers provided an appropriate amount of local coverage.
