The energy for the free response of an axially moving string with periodic velocity profile is studied. An explicit iterative expression of the solution of partial differential equation model is presented. A condition that the solution of the system is periodic is obtained. It is shown that the energy of the system may be unbounded for some periodic velocity although the amplitude is always bounded.
