Abstract
“My 10th grade daughter gets very upset when anyone remarks on her intelligence, good grades or artistic skills. She attended the district's program for the gifted in elementary school and was quite happy. She is presently in an accelerated track and often states she would like to drop out. When I question her about these feelings, she says that she doesn't want to be different from her friends in the neighborhood and that her special classes mark her as weird. What can I do to help her?
