The Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Act (1988) has provided funding for research projects that support gifted education and talent development. Articles in this special issue describe and summarize research of the National Research Center and five Javits projects. These projects highlight educational practices in classrooms and schools as well as for professional learning with a focus on students with gifts and talents.
