Deep vein thrombosis is rarely seen in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Only two cases have been reported in the medical literature. We describe a case of idiopathic deep vein thrombosis associated with ankylosing spondylitis and discuss the reason why thrombosis in ankylosing spondylitis is rare.
