Abstract
As knowledge becomes a more significant economic and geopolitical force (e.g., through increased trade in knowledge as a commodity), there is need to develop better understanding of the implications of this transformation for science and technology policy studies. What tools will be needed to analyze the role and flows of knowledge? The authors suggest a taxonomy of nine knowledge processes which might be combined with distinctive knowledge levels as a step toward building a theoretical model.
