Abstract
This brief discussion of some key problems with consumer information in education has two interrelated themes. The first is that there are peculiarities about consumer information in education that make it, and the problems associated with it, unique and important. The second theme is that unless solving these problems becomes a major priority of educational policy makers and practitioners, finding long-term solutions to education's larger problems with curriculum, instruction, and student performance will become increasingly more difficult.
