Looking ahead to the challenges that will confront schools and colleges in the 21st century, a multidisciplinary team of Rowan College, (a comprehensive public institution in New Jersey), faculty set out to design a doctoral level curriculum to prepare educational leaders with the ability to create transformative change to assure that every student might be the recipient of an excellent education. The organizing question for our activity was: "What do educational leaders need to know and to know how to do in order to run effective schools and colleges in a rapidly changing, highly technological society?"
