Abstract
Leadership is not just an individual, but a collective activity. The qualities that describe the context within which leadership takes place are as significant as the personal characteristics of the leader. And, the leadership context is a unified, effective, harmonious culture where both leaders and followers can be free to trust the purposes, actions, and intent of others. Trust is the foundation of cooperative action between individuals and groups, nations, communities, or organizations. Leadership can only take place in such a climate of mutual, cooperative action based on common values and a common vision. Indeed, it is only when the group is unified and functioning in harmony that we can say that leadership is a part of the group dynamic.
