Abstract
The problems facing humanity seem almost overwhelming. To solve them a new way of thinking and behaving has to be found. Past understandings of leadership have been locked into the industrial paradigm with the focus on the individual and the hierarchical model. Those understandings are no longer suitable. This article considers a way of thinking about leadership that places the emphasis on the group as the locus of the leadership dynamic. Such an understanding holds out hope for a shared future where everyone has a responsibility to enter into the leadership dynamic and devise ways to change.
