Abstract
This panel brings together experts in modeling and simulation to discuss contemporary issues associated with design, test, and evaluation. The use of such tools and techniques has increased in recent years, partly because of the large expense and dangers of designing and testing complex systems. Modeling and simulation techniques have long been an integral part of product and systems design, while the application of these concepts to the test and evaluation arena has been far more limited. There is now a growing recognition that use of such concepts in the test environment is a logical extension to their widespread applications in design. The topics presented by this panel illustrate this point well. Such applications should produce an important new venue for human systems integration concepts.
