Abstract
This demonstration describes a non-invasive method of quantitatively measuring physiological stress in a field or laboratory setting. The method uses salivary amylase, collected using a sponge. Measurement of amylase in saliva involves chemical color changes according to standard photometric procedures developed through a collaborative research effort between Northwestern University and the Army Research Laboratory (Chatterton, Vogelsong, Lu, Ellman, & Hudgens, 1996.
