The common characteristics of four different kinds of rapid prototyping groups are summarized. In spite of their differences, in all four cases the pattern of formation, successful development, and subsequent “growing pains” were found to be remarkably similar. The author's interventions and the restructuring of the groups' work systems for the long haul are described.
