Abstract
Two experiments assess the validity of the Harris Inspection test as a selection tool for industrial inspectors. The test is a short, two-part paper-and-pencil test which requires subjects to inspect a series of symbols for defects. Harris validated the test using inspectors who inspected four different types of electronic equipment. These studies fail to duplicate his findings. The data indicate that the Harris Test is not a valid selection test for industrial inspectors.
