The increasing cost and time requirement for the design of advanced systems is rapidly becoming a serious problem. The cost of software products and simulations have made alternative means of preliminary design necessary. The use of dynamic mock-ups in this design phase can prove to be both efficient and cost effective. This paper describes the use of dynamic mock-ups by the USAF and US Navy in their advanced aircraft design.
