Abstract
The difference between image quality of hard copy (printed) material and cathode ray tube (CRT) terminal screens are that CRT characters are relatively blurred and that they have small area flicker. The relatively blurred CRT characters may result in continuous action of the eye lens to achieve proper focus. The small area flicker also results in the nerve receptors of the eyes constantly adjusting to the varying light level. Thus, the visual mechanism may be stressed more resulting in visual discomfort and fatigue.
