Abstract
Ideas were developed and tested to improve two consumer products. A spring was affixed to chopsticks to eliminate the need to perform opening movements. An experiment with ten adult, non-chopstick users showed a reduction in time requirements of 50% with a variety of foods. Crutch supports were developed for use in backless seating. An experiment with ten people showed relief of back discomfort compared to no support, but the creation of discomfort in armpits and arms within one-half hour. Overall the crutch supports were no better than nothing at all.
